The EV Star REEFERX is designed to serve mid-to-last mile refrigerated delivery as well as catering applications. The refrigerated trucks in class 4 have a single interior wall structure and higher insulation than traditional trucks, allow for seamless sanitation and better temperature control. GreenPower has joined forces with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system, which will allow fleets to easily move to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able to support wireless charging up to 75 kW.
We were capable of testing the EV9 on the local highway for a few hours. We found it to be simple to drive and comfortable to drive long distances. The ride is smooth over bumps and ruts, while the EV9 is a master of suppressing the sound of traffic and wind on the highway. greenpower mobility is surprisingly quick and the vehicle has adjustable regenerative braking that allows "one pedal driving" by simply taking off the accelerator.
The EV9 provides a large range and can be charged in just three hours or less at home, or by using any commercial charger. The driver can choose from two operating modes: eco mode and sport mode. Eco mode is a great way to increase torque, cruise control and handling while sport mode focuses on speed. Both modes are enjoyable to drive and offer an experience unlike any other for those who haven't driven an electrical vehicle before.
In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other e-vehicles available, such as a multi-purpose, all-electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be used as an executive shuttle, transit or micro-transit bus, vanpool, or a paratransit vehicle.
GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star buses per month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their older diesel vehicles fleet with 100 all-electric cars. GreenPower will increase production to meet the needs of the Biden Administration who is planning to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant, and ADA compliant. This means they'll be eligible for federal assistance in transit.
